Addendum

One thing that Harry Potter 5 id really well was capture a proper sense of tone. From the first frame, the film was permeated with a strong sense of bleak hopelessness, exactly what you would expect if your world was slowly plunging into war. Everything was dark and low key... and even the brief moments of joy and celebration were instantly followed by a wrenchingly dark moment.

Very good. Very effective.

But it still sucked. Good movies are built on good stories. Even though "Transformers" was fairly light on story and full of holes, it KNEW it was fairly light on story and full of holes. It new it was about 30 foot tall giant robots beating the snot out of each other. And that's it. Harry Potter tried to be too much with too little time.

Hopefully film number 6 is better... although with Yates back at the helm (if reports are true), I doubt it. It will look pretty though.

They should just bring back Alfonso Cuaron.
